Position title: Senior Manager, Development  

Status: Full-time; Exempt

Standard Hours: Monday-Friday (Within 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. window)

Location: Hybrid-3 days in office each week, 2 days remote each week 

Reports To: Senior Director of Development  

Starting Salary:  Starting at $65,000 and may increase based on relevant experience

Assigned To: External Affairs Department

Position Summary:

The Senior Manager of Development is responsible for managing and increasing College Now’s portfolio of non-government grants which totals over $10 million annually from more than 100 funders. This includes writing and managing content and documents in cooperation with internal departments and conducting external research to attract, secure, and steward financial support (grants) from corporations, foundations, and other non-government organizations. The Senior Manager of Development is responsible for supervising and providing training to one development coordinator who provides process, administrative, narrative, and individual donor support. The Senior Manager of Development is responsible for providing minimal support for the planning of individual donor solicitation and stewardship strategies and activities.

Essential functions:

1. Manage and monitor non-government grant inquiries, proposals, and reports; meet all deadlines and comply with all funder guidelines.
2. Coordinate, write, and edit narratives and review, prepare, manage, and furnish grant budgets and other grant-related information and documents. 
3. Be familiar with and knowledgeable about internal and external systems, data, and data sources needed for grant-related content and processes; ensure that shared, template language is up to date with internal and external data and outcomes.
4. Be familiar with and knowledgeable about funders’ guidelines, missions (alignment with our work), deadlines, application systems, processes, and requirements; interact with funders as directed; research and recommend new grant funding opportunities.
5. Schedule and lead regular inter-departmental planning and working meetings with external affairs, finance, and program departments to gather information needed to meet funder deadlines and requirements; accurately communicate funder requirements to departments.
6. Lead and manage one staff member responsible for supporting projects and activities of the grant process and its life cycle. 
7. Support planning to ensure successful solicitations and stewardship activities for individual fundraising.

Qualifications

Must-Have Skills:

• Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication. 
• Ability to work independently, proactively, and strategically.
• Expert with working as part of a team with a variety of stakeholders. 
• Exceptional attention to detail and superior planning and organizational skills required.

Must-Have Technical Skills:

Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; facility with Microsoft Teams, Microsoft SharePoint, Raiser's Edge, and/or Salesforce a plus.

Previous Work Experience:

Minimum five years’ experience and proven ability to secure local, regional, state, and national corporate, foundation, and other non-government grants for non-profit organizations required; past experience with individual fundraising required.

Education Requirement: 

Bachelor’s degree required; English or communications degree preferred.
