Position Details
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field from a regionally accredited college or university required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of direct experience in financial aid counseling and applying knowledge of financial aid regulations.
- Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends.
- Experience with Ellucian (Colleague) student information system software.
- The use of applicable computer equipment and specified computer programs and applications, design and management of databases or spreadsheet files and the development of special report formats;
- Able to understand and apply in practice all applicable regulations, policies and statutes (federal, state, local)
- Provide excellent customer service, especially under difficult circumstances and situations.
- Ability to make presentations or to conduct workshops for various individuals or groups.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Reviews student application for eligibility for federal and state financial aid programs.
- Performs federal verification process according to federal guidelines.
- Reviews financial aid disbursments and authorizes payment for refund.
- Counsels students on the verification, appeals, or special circumstances processes.
- Counsels students on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and how to maintain aid eligibility.
- Performs professional judgement decisions on special circumstances such as Income Adjustments.
- Processes Carl Perkins Child Care Grant requests
- Assists, interprets, and maintains knowledge of current federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures pertaining to financial aid programs.
- Assists and presents at recruiting events.
- Assists with other financial aid processes such as reporting and monitoring specific financial aid programs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- No or very limited physical effort required.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
