PURPOSE
The Columbia Area Career Center is seeking a reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Part-Time School Bus Driver. This role will involve transporting students to and from school and related events, ensuring a safe and positive experience. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to the safety and well-being of students while providing timely, efficient, and courteous service. This position is temporary and will be for the remainder of this school year.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Facilitate field trips, activity trips and charter run to transport students and other passengers to and from their destinations.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor when interacting with students and staff.
- Safely transport students to and from the Columbia Area Career Center and designated locations.
- Always ensure student safety during transit, including assisting with boarding and disembarking.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, school policies, and transportation safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with school staff regarding transportation schedules and any delays or issues.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or mechanical issues promptly to the Transportation Coordinator.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Assist in loading/unloading student belongings, ensuring their safety during transportation.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus, ensuring it meets safety and operational standards.
Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports To: Director and Assistant Director of CACC
Supervises: None
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: Must be 21 years or older
Must have a minimum of 5 years verifiable driving history.
Clean driving record within the last 24-36 months
Ability and willingness to obtain a CDL.
Preferred: Clean driving record within the last 36 months
Current CDL

Physical Demands: While performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects or controls and talk and hear. The employee may be required to reach, climb, bend, squat, stoop and/or kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close and peripheral vision and depth perception.
Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
Conditions and Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but occasionally can be loud.
