Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately code and submit claims for all services provided by Columbus Global Home Health
- Perform thorough reviews of medical records to ensure proper coding and documentation
- Monitor and track the status of claims and follow up on any unpaid or denied claims
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain authorizations and referrals as needed
- Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients regarding billing and coding inquiries and issues
- Assist in the resolution of any coding and billing errors and discrepancies
- Stay current with all coding and billing regulations, guidelines, and industry updates
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations when handling patient information
- Collaborate with other team members to optimize revenue cycle management and improve overall billing processes
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with coding and billing standards and identify any areas for improvement
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a home health setting
- Proficient in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and billing software
- Strong understanding of insurance billing and reimbursement processes
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations
- Proactive and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
