What are the responsibilities and job description for the Training & Development Coordinator position at Community Living?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
90% TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
- Implement, follow, and document training of new hires and on-going training needs of all direct support staff.
- Provide CPR/First Aid training to new hires and at renewals.
- Review changes to DDA policies, WACs, and make recommendations for updating Community Living’s training curriculum.
- Effectively communicate information, concerns, requests, delegation of assignments and expectations in a timely manner.
- Initiate/coordinate communication with others involved with client care to ensure appropriate supports are being provided. This may include implementation of new training or re-training of staff.
- Coordinate with the PSC team in regard to hiring and ensuring adequate orientations are provided throughout the year.
- Research training opportunities for all staff and assist in the registration of these classes.
- Provide in-house training opportunities for all staff
- Consistently review current training practices and assist in implementing adjustments and new practices as needed
10% OTHER
- Obtain/maintain CPR/First Aid instructor status and provide classes to all branch staff to ensure compliance with policy and procedures.
- Serves as agency representative when working with outside agencies/trainers and WA State training staff.
- Establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships with state trainers.
- Attend agency Training & Development meetings quarterly
- Attend trainings to ensure self-development in the agency’s role as Training and Development Coordinator.
- Identify areas of opportunities in regard to agency practices involving direct support staff. This may include implementation of new hiring and training practices, employee recognition programs, etc.
- Report and document all circumstances that suggest any health or safety risk to clients and/or employees.
- Ensure that the expectations of the Board of Directors expressed/identified in the Agency Philosophy Statement and Statement of Expected Performance Outcomes are met.
- Daily work assignments may include travel to other branches within the region.
- Administer First Aid and CPR, as needed.
- Follow all established safety guidelines
- Other duties, as assigned
