Job Overview:

Compliance Specialists, Inc. has been in business for nearly 30 years providing EHS consulting services to companies needing help with application and compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulatory requirements, and ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 management systems. The company is expanding and looking for a EHS Specialist to add to the existing workforce. This position would require a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Environmental, Safety, or ISO position plus up to date knowledge and experience in practical application of OSHA regulations, developing and maintaining ISO managements systems, written program development experience, and good teaching and communication skills, and more. The position

Duties:

  • Develops, implements and monitors company environmental and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental and safety regulations
  • Develops and maintains ISO quality, environmental, and safety management systems
  • Conducts training in emergency response, hazardous material handling, industrial hygiene, life safety and ergonomic compliance-related activities
  • Recommends corrective action where environmental health and safety hazards exist
  • Provides technical assistance to management and engineering staff as needed regarding compliance requirements for OSHA, EPA, DOT and other governmental regulatory agencies that may apply to new processes, equipment or materials to be introduced in plant operations
  • Interface professionally with representatives of governmental regulatory agencies, local emergency response organizations and various external and internal compliance auditors
  • Maintaining requirements of air, water and discharge permits
  • Ensure compliance to training requirements specified in Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) 40 relating to the protection of the environment
  • Develop procedures to establish continuity and uniformity relating to environmental issues and requirements for All CSI client facilities
  • Accident Investigation and prevention
  • May have a role in the administration of the worker's compensation program and the implementation of workplace ergonomics and program solutions
  • Other tasks as assigned by Manager

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-years experience in an Environmental, Safety, or ISO position
  • Optional Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science or related educational background preferred.
  • Strong current knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in ensuring compliance with OSHA, RCRA, DOT, EPA, ISO and other EHS related governmental requirements and environmental management standards.
  • Significant experience implementing leading indicator safety programs
  • Proficiency using personal computers and commonly used word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software tools

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Fumes/odors: respiratory protection required
  • Smoke: respiratory & eye protection required
  • Some limited travel required
  • Work with others or alone
  • Work overtime as needed
  • Perform work exposed to weather conditions: heat, cold wind, rain, high humidity
  • Working in tight space/quarters

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Stand for long periods on hard surfaces: including concrete, tile, metal grating
  • Climb stairs, ladders and working at heights
  • Perform work involving twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling and bending
  • Breathe without difficulty/use respirator
