Position Summary
An Ophthalmic Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting ophthalmologists in providing eye care services to patients. They assist with both clinical and administrative tasks, contributing to the efficient operation of the practice.
NO WEEKENDS
Roles and Responsibilities
- Ability to perform specialized eye exam testing while streamlining patient flow.
- Other diagnostic testing such as: Visual Aids, OCT, Corneal topography, etc...
- Providing phone support with request for prescription refills as authorized by the physician.
- Educate patients regarding administration of medications and pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by physician.
- Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, such as HIPPA guidelines, to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Assists with opening and closing duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
- One-year experience in a customer facing position preferred
- Medical related experience preferred
- Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Proficient in use of internet
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
