TITLE: Training Specialist
LOCATION: Forestry-Division of Fire
SALARY: $28.73 an hour including benefits

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) within the definition of the CSKT Drug Testing policy and is
subject to random alcohol and drug testing. The successful applicant if not already employed by the
Tribes must pass a pre-hire drug test and will be required to serve a six-month probationary
period.
This position serves as a Wildland Firefighter for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, Division
of Fire (CSKT).
Primary responsibility of the position is to manage the CSKT Division of Fire training program. Incumbent
is responsible for the development and maintenance of agency wildland fire, prescribed fire training and
qualifications databases, lists, and records. Incumbent serves as the primary agency facilitative
instructor. In addition, planning, scheduling and coordinating all annual trainings taught at Division of
Fire. Serves as the Division of Fire training representative, coordinating training sessions with other Tribal
programs and interagency wildfire organizations.
This is a permanent/full-time position within CSKT Division of Fire.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Maintains the Incident Qualifications Computer System (IQCS) database for all responders under
the Flathead Agency Superintendent.
- Leads the agency Red Card and Training committee.
- Develops and maintains training needs assessments and to support local, regional and national
NWCG course nominations.
- Plans, organizes and prepares local NWCG classes and nationally required training to meet
program needs.
- Maintains training records and files in all department personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (AS REFLECTED ON THE TRIBAL EMPLOYMENT
APPLICATION):
- High School diploma (or equivalent). Post-High School training in Natural Resources or Business
Management would be highly desirable.
- Minimum qualifications as any Qualified Single Resource Boss. (Example any one of these,
CRWB, HEQB, ENGB, FIRB, or FELB).
- Required Training, ICS-200, RT-130, S-230, S-290.
- If not currently qualified as a NWCG fire course coordinator that includes M-410 (Facilitative
Instructor) or (equivalent teaching degree). Incumbent will have to obtain qualification as soon
as possible.
- A valid State of Montana driver’s license is required for vehicle operation.
- Incumbent is subject to maintaining a current firefighter physical and valid red card qualification
as a Qualified Single Resource Boss.
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Tribes Drug Free Workplace Program and
is subject to pre-hire and random drug and alcohol testing requirements.
