Mercury Transport is looking for a qualified Class A Driver/Warehouse Associate to join our team! This candidate will be responsible for transporting steel materials between local locations using a commercial truck and operating an industrial forklift. In addition to driving, this role will also include performing warehouse duties during periods without deliveries. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy commercial trucks to provide prompt and courteous delivery of steel products.
- Ensure compliance with Company, State, and Federal regulations while operating the vehicle.
- Maintain daily trip logs (including but not limited to mileage and routes).
- Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Majestic Steel’s policies.
- Secure tarp loads with material being transported in accordance with company procedure.
- Manage equipment (including but not limited to tarps, chains, and racks) and make recommendations to management when items need to be replaced.
- Stock and rotate inventory as necessary.
- Coordinate required preventative maintenance to maintenance trucks and/or other material handling equipment.
- Communicate and update area management on issues related to equipment, loading/unloading, and associate/customer interaction.
- Verify counts of products shipped and/or received.
- Other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:
- Five years of commercial driving experience- flatbed.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Possess (or obtain) a valid DOT medical certificate.
- One year of lift truck operation experience.
- Experience with MS Office, computer skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
- Ability and knowledge to safely and properly block brace and secure steel products.
- Ability to plan and prioritize workload.
- Ability to communicate with management and co-workers, and the ability to work well independently.
- Operate lift trucks with ram and fork attachments.
- Operate assigned equipment in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
- Work independently and as a part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience transporting steel products.
Additional:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl on a regular basis.
- Must be able to work outside normal business hours/days as needed.
- Must be able to travel occasionally and work at an outside location.
Salary Range: $26.50 - $35.25 an hour
