Company Description:

Confluence is a clinically-intensive treatment program treating young adults with mental health, emotional and relational challenges. The program combines wilderness adventure therapy with a residential experience, farm programming, and comprehensive health and wellness services to guide young adults facing mental health challenges towards engaged, positive and fulfilling lives.

Description: Confluence is seeking qualified Mentors to facilitate a physically and emotionally safe therapeutic experience. Mentors facilitate participant’s growth through the implementation of individualized therapeutic treatment plans and a positive peer environment. Mentor’s serve as guides and teachers for outdoor-adventure and farm-based activities. Field Mentors work a continuous 8-day/7-night shift comprising off-site adventure programming and activities on the farm. The 8-day/7-night shift is followed by 6 days off. Mentor’s comprehensively guide participants through social, emotional and physical challenges with the goal of achieving greater emotional awareness, developing positive change and fostering growth.

Responsibilities:

• Foster and maintain a safe emotional and physical atmosphere
• Implement individual and group treatment plans by conducting objective participant observation, group discussions, and interventions
• Objectively record the actions, behaviors and changes in participants by submitting a written assessments weekly
• Assess and meet participant attributes and needs while helping them realize their strengths
• Lead or co-lead adventure activities (camping, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, etc.
• Participate in peer-to-peer developmental feedback, including but not limited to submitting peer evaluations and self evaluations
• Effectively communicate with leadership, co-workers, clinicians/therapists, logistics staff and participants to efficiently integrate the multiple facets of the program
• Identify risks and adverse behavior and respond appropriately

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred with special preference for degrees in psychology, social work, counseling and experiential education (Master's Degree in these areas warrant consideration for increased roles with the clinical director and adventure programming director)
• Experience camping and backpacking preferred
• Integrity, trustworthiness and professionalism
• Ability to develop strong and appropriate rapport with other staff
• Ability to operate within a wide range of participant personalities, cultures and backgrounds
• Excellent communication skills and high emotional intelligence abilities
• Wilderness First Responder certification preferred
• Willingness and ability to complete 6-8 day training and on-site interview
• Ability to pass extensive background check
• Weekends and holiday work required
