*Job Overview*
We are seeking a Communications Manager to oversee all synagogue-wide electronic and print communications and ensure the congregation and the broader community are informed about Congregation Beth El’s programs and initiatives. The Communications Manager will contribute to organizational messaging and branding, maintain the online presence, develop print and digital designs, and implement social media strategies.
This position offers a hybrid work option, allowing for a combination of in-office and remote work, ensuring flexibility while meeting the needs of the organization.
The Communications Manager will report to the Director of Community Engagement regarding communications content and strategy.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Design and edit email marketing materials, including weekly and targeted newsletters.
- Manage and update website content, including the Shabbat schedule, event information, calendar, and registration system, ensuring an optimal user experience.
- Design and edit printed leaflets for Shabbat services and synagogue programs.
- Create or oversee the design of promotional and programmatic materials (print and digital) and distribute printed materials across the campus.
- Conduct media outreach, draft press releases, and develop advertising for print and online platforms.
- Collaborate with staff and affiliate groups to assist them in communicating with their communities.
- Create and manage content (video and text) for the synagogue’s online presence.
- Manage social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Attend synagogue events (some evenings or weekends) to photograph and publicize activities.
- Participate in staff and program department meetings to gather necessary information for promoting events.
- Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of five years of relevant communications experience.
- Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact), producing marketing materials, and website management.
- Experience in managing social media platforms.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Adobe, Canva, and InDesign.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently, create new projects, and develop strategies.
- Attention to detail and excellent prioritization skills.
- Strong digital communication skills and appropriate computer proficiency.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
