Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose
The Associate Director of Academic Assessment supports faculty and academic programs across three campuses in designing and implementing academic assessment processes for continuous improvement of student learning and achievement. The Associate Director collaborates with the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) team to develop and facilitate teaching and assessment workshops, programs, and initiatives; provides expertise and support for faculty and other academic leaders in designing and implementing equity-centered, meaningful, manageable, and effective assessment of learning outcomes; communicates assessment activities’ purpose, processes, and findings to internal and external stakeholders; maintains current knowledge of national trends in education; and, engages in professional development that enhances the work of the university and contributes to national discussions around academic assessment. This position reports to the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning.

Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
Hiring Range $85,000 - $95,000/year Background Check Statement

Essential Functions
- Provides leadership and expertise in quantitative and qualitative assessment techniques and serves as a three-campus resource on assessment matters.
- Collaborates with CTL staff, faculty, and institutional partners to develop and implement programs, workshops, and resources that promote equity-centered, research-informed assessment practices and support continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
- Seeks multiple perspectives and advances dialog between students, faculty, and staff around goals, pathways, and evidence for student learning.
- Supports and develops resources for faculty and academic programs on outcomes and curriculum mapping.
- Manages university-wide assessment of program learning outcomes and undergraduate core competencies, including a university-wide assessment-focused committee.
- Helps departments and academic leaders align their assessment plans with university and program goals for student achievement, use findings for shared meaning and action, and integrate assessment in a productive way into their scholarly, instructional, planning, and program review activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree (Two (2) years of full-time experience in the same or similar position is equal to one (1) year of completed post-high school education coursework).
- Two (2) years of assessment experience in a post-secondary institution.
- One (1) year experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
- Doctorate or terminal degree.
- Knowledge of assessment principles and tools in higher education and experience designing a variety of assessment measures, such as surveys, focus groups, rubrics, and benchmarking.
- Knowledge of methods for equity-centered assessment.
- Ability to tell stories with data and communicate effectively with non-technical audiences.
- Classroom teaching experience and familiarity with the needs, challenges, and practices of college students and instructors.
- Experience developing and facilitating faculty development programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work productively with faculty and staff working in multiple disciplines and serving various functions, including the Offices of the Provost and Institutional Research.
- Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to design and manage projects independently and as part of a team.
- Strong computer skills and fluency in a variety of job-related software programs (e.g., MS Office suite, statistical software, learning management system, assessment management system) and able to learn new programs as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including ability to communicate complex issues effectively and influentially to a variety of internal and external audiences.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
