What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Chemist position at Contract Packaging Inc?
Chemist must possess general knowledge of laboratory operating procedures and laboratory safety protocols to ensure the laboratory operates in a safe and efficient manner. Chemist should be highly motivated, require minimal supervision and work well within a team environment. Typical duties include, but are not limited to, maintaining and calibrating laboratory instrumentation, cleaning and organizing laboratory glassware, analyzing production samples, raw materials, stability samples and residual impurity analysis, evaluating and reporting results to ensure timely release, while maintaining the highest level of quality. A bachelor’s degree in a science related field is required for a chemist position.
Chemist Job Description
- Analysis of production samples, raw materials, stability samples and residual impurities to support manufacturing. Scheduling and organizing analytical testing utilizing HPLC, GC and wet chemistry techniques in a fast-paced team environment.
- Initiate and facilitate timely investigation of any out-of-specification or out-of-trend data and effectively communicate to upper management in a timely manner. Assist in determining root cause analysis and appropriate corrective actions (CAPA) while effectively resolving issues to ensure consistency and continued production.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper operation and accurate results meeting all qualifications and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate with manufacturing to report results, issues or delays in a timely manner.
- Evaluate, interpret, review and approve test results and other related technical documentation.
- Maintain and organize test data, records and related laboratory documents.
- Communicate with external suppliers or service providers regarding any quality issues.
- Manage available resources within and outside the team to meet due dates.
- Work effectively with Quality Assurance, Production, Safety and other departments to assist in resolving any issues.
- Manage special projects or other tasks as deemed necessary, based on personal qualifications and business needs at management’s discretion.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a BS degree in Chemistry or other equivalent science field.
- Candidates with experience in HPLC, GC and wet chemistry techniques is preferable.
- Candidates with experience working in a GMP regulated or Quality laboratory is a plus.
- Candidates should be organized, highly Self-motivated and require minimal supervision while working within a team environment.
