About the Job:
Under the supervision of the Retail Banking Officer, the Teller, based out of our Ware Banking Center, provides excellent service to all customers by performing error-free transactions, informing customers of Bank products and services, and managing customer requests in a professional and timely manner. Maintains and balances cash drawer and reconciles discrepancies, while following all Bank policies and procedures to reduce risk of loss. Supports the banking center in reaching deposit and loan goals through referrals to Banking Center Specialists.
The hiring range for this position is: $17.00 - $20.00 hourly.
Status: Full Time, 38 hours per week
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists customers by receiving deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments; cashing checks; recording night and mail deposits; selling cashier checks, ordering checks, and answering questions in person or over the telephone.
Actively participates and models the Country Bank Experience sales and service program. Cross sells Bank products by engaging with customers, understanding customer needs, and informing customers of new services and product promotions. Demonstrates sound knowledge of Bank products and services. Actively promotes all digital channels such as online and mobile banking, and any eService initiatives.
Answers basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges and account histories, while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
Maintains an excellent teller balancing record and follows the Retail Banking Balancing Standards.
Processes and mitigates risks associated with check transactions, including verifying endorsement and proper identification, and ensuring item’s validity according to the Bank’s Check Handling policy. Determines funds availability based on regulation and Bank policy requirements. Completes Notice of Delayed Availability as necessary.
Buys and sells currency from the vault as necessary, ensuring that teller drawer cash limits are within established guidelines.
Is required to work 2-3 weekend days per month, as needed.

Knowledge and Skills
It is required that the employee in this position can work both independently and as part of a team, interpreting ideas and facts, while also analyzing and interpreting federal and state laws and/or regulations. This employee should have strong customer service/sales skills, as well as strong written communication skills. Employees with exceptional verbal and numerical aptitudes are preferred.
This position requires basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
Education and Work Experience
A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Experience in cash handling and customer service is preferred.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
This position is in a general Retail Banking Center environment and may require prolonged periods of standing and looking at a computer screen. Minimal physical effort is required but could include: repetitive motion of wrists and fingers; reaching over the counter; talking and hearing; and the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
