POSITION: COURT OFFICER
REPORTS TO: Court Administrator and Judges
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Court Officer is responsible for the daily preparation of the courtroom. The Officer maintains courtroom decorum, locates witnesses, counsel and informs the Judges when everyone is in place. The Officer announces all openings, recesses adjournments of daily sessions and performs other duties as requested by the Judge.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma/GED
Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing
Good public relation skill and people skills
Be able to follow both written and verbal instructions
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be familiar with the procedures for preparing the courtrooms and clearly understand how the Court functions. The Court Officer needs to have patience and show respect and courtesy to all parties. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL STANDARDS: The Court Officer is required to sit, walk, stand, bend and carry light objects. The work area is generally well lit and the noise level is moderate. This job description should not be construed to imply that these requirements are the exclusive standards of the position. Incumbents will follow other instructions, and perform any other related duties, as may be required by the Court Administrator or Judges.
