Job Title: Mechanic Assistant
Job Type: Full-time

Cranemasters is a full-service railroad contractor providing specialty lifting, emergency response, track maintenance, load adjust and manufacturing of specialized and customized equipment for the railroad industry.
Ensures that all activities are carried out in a safe, effective, professional, and efficient manner so as to protect employees and the assets of the Company.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible to assist with the repairs in a variety of heavy equipment.
- Carries out work assignments following daily briefing with Fleet Maintenance Manager.
- Works closely with all members of the fleet maintenance group to assure the highest quality product is achieved.
- Ensures that down-time (waiting for parts, tools, etc.) is kept to a minimum.
- Works to complete assigned tasks timely and accurately while following all of Cranemasters standards. Documents all work tasks and ensures that documentation is legible and understandable.
- Routes requests for emergency repairs to the Fleet Maintenance Manager to ensure priority assignments are not interrupted.
- Ensures that all safety rules/regulations are followed.
- Ensures that tools and other equipment are maintained in a neat, orderly fashion.
- Actively participates in team-based work assignments ensuring timely completion of repairs/maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned.

Immediate Supervisor’s Title: Fleet Maintenance Manager
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of two years demonstrated maintenance experience with heavy equipment and/or track/trailers/cranes, etc.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in at least two other technical areas (Including but not limited to: hydraulics, electronics, small engines, air-conditioning, and other related mechanical areas).
- Education to include High School Diploma/GED AND trade school/or dealership/factory service training in diesel mechanical repair/maintenance that would be equivalent to an associate’s degree.
- Drive for achieving results and ability to convey a sense of urgency when appropriate.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Able to read, write and speak English
Physical Demands:
- Constant bending / twisting / stooping / walking / talking / sitting / standing / kneeling / climbing / bending / carrying materials/parts
- May work in a variety weather conditions.
- Working extended hours.
- Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Required Certifications and Licenses:
- Valid Driver’s License with good driving record
- Training and experience equivalent to two years of technical/vocational school and five years of on-hands repair and maintenance of heavy equipment
- Professional certifications related to maintenance and repair of heavy equipment
- Other certifications as may be necessary for accomplishment of assigned responsibilities.
