Cristo Rey Jesuit High School is Hiring a Transportation Manager Near Minneapolis, MN

Primary Functions: The Transportation Manager is responsible for managing all transportation initiatives including, but not limited to; route coordination, van maintenance, communication, and van driver supervision. The Transportation Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for the transportation (bus) providers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Management

  • Partner with the bus company to develop and oversee yearly routes to school and home
  • Partner with the bus company and CWSP to develop and oversee job shuttle routes for morning CWSP transportation
    • Ensure CWSP receives any important updates regarding late vehicles
    • Coordinate with CWSP to ensure prompt arrivals to job sites
    • Be on call during the day in case of emergency departures from a worksite
    • Assist with morning shuttle release
      • Job shuttles, vans, and morning taxis
    • Order and track CWSP taxi job site routes
  • Serve as primary contact for bus company; communicate with bus company directly when issues arise
  • Work with CWSP to update and maintain route coordinates for job changes as necessary
  • Prepare routes for all CRJHS drivers and update route books as needed
  • Organize logistics and schedule transportation for CRJHS events and activities requiring transportation
    • Share, execute or develop protocols by Athletics, Campus Ministry College Readiness, Graduate Support, Admissions, and other moderators of school-related activities/field trips
    • Create and manage online bus calendar for coaches to quickly reference
    • Obtain weekly confirmations of any buses to ensure on-time game arrivals
  • Manage records for fleet of 4 vehicles and maintain responsibility for maintenance, fueling, registration, inspection, repairs, and cleaning.
  • Coordinate investigations of CRJHS vehicle accidents and ensure all established procedures are followed
  • Communicate with families regarding school bus routes; work to answer questions and resolve issues that arise
    • Instruct families on how to use Mystop if needed

Financial Management

  • Develop and maintain an accurate and fiscally responsible Transportation budget
  • Make purchases in accordance with the budget; manage expenses and report actuals vs. budgeted line items upon request
  • Complete claims for transportation reimbursement from various school districts
  • Communicate any reported incidents to parents and students, as necessary

Operational Efficiency

  • Maintain transportation records and submit reports when required
  • Maintain a bus card tracking and distribution list
  • Maintain a system to order and track field trip and extracurricular activity buses

Driver Supervision

  • Ensure all CRJHS drivers are appropriately trained and certified
  • Update job descriptions as needed, oversee filling of vacancies, conduct employee performance evaluations, and make recommendations for employment
  • Maintain driving records of approved CRJHS staff, faculty or CWSP drivers
  • Manage drivers, track hours and collaborate with CWSP
  • Serve as morning dispatch; troubleshoot issues that occur
    • Coordinate with bus company when a late notification comes in
    • Track vans to ensure on time arrival when requested by CWSP
    • Help drivers as needed to find correct job site locations
    • Communicate with CWSP Client Relations Managers if problems arise
  • Coordinate with afternoon dispatcher about special changes to routes or additional taxis
    • Be on call in case of any emergencies in the afternoon
      • Accidents, extremely late pick ups

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in management, business, or psychology from an accredited college or university a plus, but is not required.

Experience:

  • 2 or more years of work experience in transportation or, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • DOT regulations, policies, and procedures
  • On-board computer systems
  • Relevant safety policies, practices and procedures (J)
  • Budgetary concepts and procedures
  • PC word-processing/spreadsheet software applications
  • Scheduling and routing
  • Computer-based routing systems

Skill and ability to:

  • Resolve and report delivery issues between drivers and customers; other customer service issues
  • Supervise and motivate employees in a team-based environment
  • Interpret transportation operations anomalies and identify appropriate solutions
  • Prepare administrative and technical documents and reports
  • Work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer service
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (preferred; not required)
  • Ability to independently work effectively and efficiently, as well as within a team structure.
