About Cross Roads House:
Founded in 1982, Cross Roads House provides emergency and transitional shelter to homeless men, women, and children in the Seacoast area. We provide homeless families and individuals with basic necessities, as well as the tools and guidance they need to return to permanent housing.
Position Summary:
To assist in the daily operations of Cross Roads House in a professional and hospitable manner. Must be able to lift 25 pounds and have at least a high school education with experience in related fields of social service and hospitality.
Essential and Specific Responsibilities:
· Respond to residents’ needs
· Answer telephone calls
· Complete hourly rounds
· Greet, support, and thank volunteers and donors
· Screen possible admissions for intakes and provide essential information and referrals
· Complete intakes
· Orient new residents
· Complete records and notes
· Enforce guidelines in an appropriate manner
· Assign and oversee residents’ responsibilities related to house management
· Chores, including work area and (when necessary) Family and Phase II Room cleaning
· Kitchen assistance and oversight as needed
· Ensure that the shelter and grounds are clean, maintenance problems are identified, and safety concerns are addressed.
· Work as a team with staff and residents in identifying resident issues. Assist in seeing that residents are pursuing available resources and complying with their contracts. Note any progress and/or concerns that you identify.
· Regularly check to see that residents in the emergency shelter are following expectations, getting along with their roommates and understand what services are available to them at Cross Roads House
· Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings as assigned
· Fulfill other responsibilities and duties/ tasks as assigned to you by Shelter Manager and the Executive Director.
