Position Summary:

The Director of Accounting will oversee the finance and accounting functions of the Crypto.com Arena and Microsoft Theater Finance department. Responsibilities include supervising department staff, monitoring the monthly close process, assisting with monthly financial statement preparation, preparing budget reports, and a variety of other financial reports. These responsibilities and tasks will be coordinated with and overseen by the organization's Vice President of Accounting. 

Essential Functions:

ACCOUNTING MANAGEMENT:

  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing process.
  • Monitor department progress toward meeting various deadlines.
  • Manage/maintain internal controls and compliance in Accounts Payable/Receivable, and Box Office/Ticketing. Maintain compliance for tax reporting purposes.
  • Supervise the process of recording manual journal entries and oversee various finance-related processes (fixed assets, payroll, etc.) to ensure accounting records are complete and accurate. 
  • Review and/or prepare account reconciliations and other analyses as needed. Ensure department policies & procedures are followed. 

FINANCIAL REPORTING: 

  • Prepare and/or review financial statements, budget reports, and event flash reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain budgeting and forecasting including, but not limited to, operating budget, monthly forecasting, capital budget, and cash flow analysis.
  • Prepare other financial reports and analyses as requested.
  • Work with outside auditors to complete the annual audit and issue audited financial statements.

OTHER DUTIES: 

  • Partner with HR and the Payroll Department to ensure payroll is processed and recorded accurately.
  • Assist Vice President of Finance and other facility personnel as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum education level of: Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree (4-year) in Business Management (Accounting, Finance or related area preferred)
  • Minimum of 8 years related experience in accounting and/or finance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and SharePoint
  • Experience with accounting software system (JDE a plus)
  • Experience working with multiple companies/legal entities and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Experience preparing financial statements, forecasts, and budgets
  • Experience and desire to lead, develop, and coach team members to advance their skills and knowledge
  • Ability to read, listen, and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees from clerical to executive as well as with external contacts
  • Must have strong analytical skills
  • Must have strong technical and general accounting experience and knowledge from both a detailed and big-picture vantage point
  • Ability to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and with various team members and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision
  • Must have excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as needed. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the facilities/arena management industry strongly preferred
