Job Summary

Self-motivated and innovative product manager responsible for technological advances and continuous pushing the envelope with our products. Accountable for owning the development and delivery of new products by conducting market research, creating product timeframes and plans, and crafting marketing strategies for new products.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive the entire vision and delivery of innovative new products to keep the business relevant and competitive
    • Conduct market research to identify opportunities for new products
    • Clearly communicate the vision and goals of existing and new products
    • Collaborate with customers, team members, and external influencers to ensure a solid and well-rounded understanding of products and emerging needs
    • Identify and present innovative product solutions
  • Responsible for digital product strategy and value delivery in one or more Digital Product Lines
    • Prioritize product opportunities using criteria and requirements defined during research
    • Establish requirements and specifications for existing and new products
    • Maintain Release Plan and coordinate product releases with business and development teams
    • Manage Product Backlog and make appropriate tradeoffs to deliver the highest value
    • Develop metrics to assess the success of products and features and determine necessary enhancements
    • Maintain in-depth knowledge of products, solutions, and company offerings
  • Facilitate work across cross-functional teams in Foster cross-functional partnerships (across business, product, design, and engineering teams) to deliver scalable, reliable, and cost-effective digital solutions
    • Support active development to ensure product requirements are satisfied
    • Lead and participate in planning meetings and provide advice and guidance on the direction of products
    • Demonstrate functionality of completed products to internal team members and other stakeholders
  • Participate in communities of practice and drive maturity in CSX’s product management capability

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
  • 5 or more years of supervisory experience in managing or leading IT projects

Equivalent Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 10 or more years of supervisory experience in managing or leading IT projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate Degree
  • 10 or more years of supervisory experience in managing or leading Transportation/Logistics/Rail Operations IT projects
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) Certification

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of product management methods
  • Experience working directly with designers and engineers to design and iterate on products
  • Ability to be creative, strategic, analytical, and think outside the box to solve problems
  • Strong time management skills
  • Interpersonal skills with a keen ability to explain complex concepts across the organization and to large audiences
  • Knowledge of system development life cycles and methodologies
  • Written and oral communications skills to communicate with all levels in the organization efficiently and effectively as well as creating clear visual presentations for business and upper management
  • Collaborative and coaching skills
  • Product management/delivery software skills
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Contract and vendor management skills
  • Experience analyzing, designing, and implementing large scale systems support related to systems.
