The Director of Plant Operations will lead and direct production and maintenance functions for the respective location, while supporting and adhering to the efforts of safety, food safety, supply chain, human resources, and commercialization, in order to meet location’s business objectives as established by the Senior Leadership Team.
- Direct daily operations while maintaining compliance to quality and regulatory standards.
- Execute all plans and initiatives as directed by safety, supply chain, food safety, HR and other cross functional areas.
- Achieve all location KPIs.
- Achieve budgets for all operating costs including manufacturing, maintenance, and labor.
- Champion and model the CTI culture and the necessary mindsets to (3Fs) to deliver optimal results.
- Actively participate and engage with other plant leaders for best practice sharing and replication for areas such as network optimization and asset efficiency.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts around plant performance, people and processes to execute on current goals and to prepare for future growth.
- Lead team by effectively utilizing CTI’s Operating Principles.
- Attract, hire and lead the supervisory teams throughout the location, ensuring that all team members are knowledgeable with operating processes and procedures.
- Ability to develop the maintenance department into a pro-active / asset life management model.
- Identify, study and determine the processing equipment that best meets production needs from a product quality and productivity standpoint.
- Play a key role on major CAPEX project budgeting and large project management to ensure timely completion and on budget.
- Define and model the overall facility capacity to have an overall understanding of bottlenecks and limitations.
- Knowledge of USDA-FSIS regulations and ability to work with USDA inspectors on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance to all USDA regulations and HACCP and SQF requirements.
- Knowledge of other regulatory requirements, including OSHA and EPA/DNR. OSHA experience covering worker safety in a protein processing environment as well as ammonia-based refrigeration. EPA/DNR as it pertains to plant discharges either by air or water.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
