Requirements: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University and: 2 semesters (6 credit hours) human nutrition, 1 semester (3 credit hours) human anatomy and/or physiology, and 1 semester (3 credit hours) education, psychology, or counseling.
Job Description: The WIC Nutrition Educator certifies applicants/clients including assessment of nutrition risk, nutrition counselling, and assigning food packages. Completes Flowsheet/ Care Plan for clients. Supports lactation and nursing infants with assessment, education, and referral. Assists in low-risk follow-up nutrition education classes, primary and secondary nutrition education, and can approve or deny therapeutic formula. Works with other community programs to integrate WIC nutrition services.
