What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Lecturer, Genetics Lab - Curry College position at Curry College?
The Department of Natural Sciences & Mathematics is accepting applications for part-time Associate Lecturers that can teach Genetics Lab, a required course in our Biology, Biochemistry and Forensic Science programs. The Associate Lecturer will teach in-person in our undergraduate day program on our Milton campus. Screening and review of candidate application materials will begin immediately and will be ongoing.
Three Sections are available in the Spring 2025 semester beginning January 21 and continuing through May 6.
Thursday 1-3:30 PM, Thursday 4-6:30PM, and Friday 1:30-4PM
This lab focuses on experimental design as a way for students to explore concepts in gene expression, DNA analysis and evolution. Laboratory skills including reading and adaptation of protocols, technique comparison and selection, and data acquisition/analysis/troubleshooting are integral to this lab.
Part-time Associate Lecturers are expected to work collaboratively with faculty in the department to ensure consistent course delivery including the alignment of lecture content and lab activities, scientific skills development, and assessment of the curriculum across all lecture and lab sections. Associate Lectures must use the College's learning management system, Canvas, to post syllabus, assignments, grades and other materials to communicate with students. In person office hours are expected.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
A Master's degree and experience in experimental design and troubleshooting in molecular biology, specifically DNA isolation, PCR, RT-PCR and barcoding.
The department is seeking candidates with a history of effective teaching, including experience using active learning techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Canvas LMS a plus.
