Basic Qualifications
Education/Training: Associates degree in technical engineering or sufficient CAD training / drafting from a recognized CAD Design program.
Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; familiarity with standard engineering terms and practices; the ability to measure using a tape, calipers and other typical tools; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; proficient mechanical skills, proficient PC skills, including Internet; information technology related to CAD software, drawing revisions, visual and auditory skills; ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, climb, and lift items weighing 50 lbs. or less.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) to five (5) years' experience in related positions normally required.
General Responsibilities
Responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the engineering function; using standard CAD modeling practices, develop drawings, parts and burn files in support of production, determine material grades and forming requirements, coordinate burn schedule and parts requirements in support of shop schedule; coordinate work within the department, as well as with other departments; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information.
Essential Duties
- Performs a variety of duties to support the engineering function as follows:
- Use CAD software to model and design parts, meet specifications, determine material grades and welding requirements, prepare shop drawings for layout and construction, determine centers of gravity, overall weights, volumes and any other related information regarding our products.
- Aid in the nesting process for various parts and assemblies coming through the Engineering department.
- Visit the shop floor on a regular basis to ensure the project is being built correctly and our parts and drawings are working. Visit the field from time to time to ensure products meet customer’s specs.
- Document construction, installation, and operation procedures for our products and develop manuals including pictures, step-by-step instructions, dimensions and schematics. Print all custom size drawings, manuals, photos and aid in printer maintenance.
- Work with burn table engineer and burn table operator in laying out efficient use of our material and ensuring parts are cut and labeled to tolerances and specifications.
- Take ownership of projects assigned from start to finish ensuring all drawings, parts, hardware and procedures are in place to meet our goals for customer delivery and quality.
- Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information, parts, materials and procedures.
- Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.
- Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the company’s compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate personnel.
- Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
Ancillary Duties
Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
