This is a paid internship at our South San Francisco headquarters. The program is for approximately 12 weeks beginning in late May/early June.
We are currently seeking an intern to join the Sample Management group at Cytokinetics. This will be a position that will provide a tremendous learning opportunity. The candidate will get to learn in-depth the functioning and nuances of a Sample Management group and gain experience with the numerous assays that assess and characterize the properties of the compounds. The position demands an individual who is a quick learner and has a proactive attitude to pitch in to support research activities and help align the group with company goals. The scope of the candidates work includes but is not limited to dispensing compounds, operate liquid handling robotics, trouble-shooting instrumentation, HPLC quality control and running compound characterization assays.
Requirements:
- Required to be on-site M-F
- Currently enrolled in a four-year college/university program with a chemistry or biology major
- Highly focused, organized, and motivated team player with good time management skills
- Comfortable in a lab setting and with basic lab techniques (pipetting, weigh balances, centrifugation)
- Must be able to follow standard lab safety protocols
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation such as HPLC and LC/MS is a plus
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new computer applications are essential
- Excellent communication skills and the desire to work within a multidisciplinary team are also required
