Shift: Day Shift. Monday-Friday

Description

The role of Warehouse Purchasing Specialist is to acquire materials and supplies; to place purchase orders for goods that have standard costs and quoted discounts already in place.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Operations Department to identify and procure necessary packaging and ingredients (P&I) for the plant.
• Prepare, complete and maintain accurate reports/records on all ordering of P&I and file all related documentation.
• Coordinates purchasing activities with other departments to maintain inventory at planned levels.
• Prepare, review, follow up on and track orders to ensure delivery and efficient stock or materials for plant success.
• Input and maintain orders placed including inventory purchase orders, price changes and order updates.
• Maintain a weekly and monthly inventory of P&I.
• Responsible for entries in SAP Computer System.
• Communicate as required with truck drivers, customers, vendors and suppliers in a professional manner.
• Expected to function as an engaged employee and contribute to the site’s continuous improvement efforts.
• Follow all DFA GMP’s and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality and sanitation requirements.
• Other duties may be assigned as required

Education and Experience

• BA/BS or equivalent preferred.
• Prior warehouse and purchasing experience required.
• Inventory management and control experience required.
• Must be able to obtain forklift certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must be PC literate; Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
• Ability to work with little supervision.
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills.
• Good math aptitude requires attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple situations at one time.
• Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, monitors own work to ensure quality.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
