Overview
A leading electrical contracting firm is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join their team. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for various electrical construction projects, writing proposals, and acting as the primary point-of-contact with clients. The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills, a deep understanding of project management and construction estimating software, and comprehensive knowledge of commercial or industrial building codes and related systems/controls.
Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates for electrical construction projects up to $50M using construction plans and specifications
- Write proposals that accurately capture the scope of work and associated costs
- Lead the Proposal Review Process to ensure management has the appropriate documentation
- Maintain project documentation and tracking in line with company standards throughout the pre-construction phase
- Collaborate with the Project Team to establish accurate budgets and buyouts based on estimates
- Coordinate the total estimating effort for specific bids/projects
- Negotiate with vendors to ensure the quality and lowest cost on bid items
- Provide support to other departments as needed, including preparing estimates in other disciplines and assisting Project Managers with start-up and change-order costs
Qualifications
- 4 years of experience in estimating, cost control, and/or engineering within the commercial or industrial electrical construction industry
- 3 years Data Center experience is required
- Experience with estimating software and change order/new project pricing
- Proficient in project management and construction estimating software
- Ability to interpret computerized cost data, read blueprints, and understand project specifications
- Working knowledge of commercial or industrial building codes and related systems/controls
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to pass pre-employment background checks and motor vehicle record checks
Day-to-Day
- Conducting detailed takeoffs of the scope of work
- Ensuring project documentation and tracking meet company standards
- Collaborating with the Project Team to establish accurate budgets and buyouts
- Serving as the primary point-of-contact with clients
- Negotiating with vendors to ensure quality and the best cost on bid items
- Supporting other department personnel as needed
