SALARY RANGE: $45,000-$65,000

POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a committed Teacher to complement our qualified workforce of educators. You will be responsible for preparing and implementing a full educational teaching plan according to the school’s requirements. It will be fundamental to teach key financial concepts and to provide knowledge and instruction to students while also helping to develop their personalities and skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate about financial education and possess the ability to reach out to students and create a relationship of mutual trust. They will know how to organize a class and make financial literacy learning an easy and meaningful process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Classroom Management

  • Creating a safe, respectful, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment focused on financial topics such as budgeting, investing, and saving.
  • Establishing a learning environment of high trust and respect as well as managing rules of behavior
  • Maintain accurate school records: attendance, grades, progress checks
  • Maintain a tidy classroom that reflects financial learning resources and displays.

Planning & Assessment

  • Ability to develop lesson plans and successfully instruct students through financial literacy standards-aligned lessons, units, and projects to achieve learning objectives
  • Establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units and projects that focus on real-life financial applications.
  • Encouraging students to explore personal financial planning and college/career paths related to economics or finance.
  • Creating, assigning and grading various assessments for students, including financial simulations, tests, quizzes, and projects.
  • Assess, monitor, and record students’ progress and provide grades and feedback in a timely manner with emphasis on practical financial skills.
  • Administering tests/assessments to evaluate students’ progress and performance and understanding of financial principles.

Instructional Practice & Pedagogy

  • Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students in the context of financial literacy
  • Working with students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention particularly for understanding complex financial concepts like interest rates or credit scores.
  • Integrating financial tools and technology into the learning environment

Communication & Collaboration

  • Maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, coworkers and supervisors
  • Communicating regularly with parents/guardians
  • Effectively communicate with others and clearly express complex financial literacy ideas
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and outside financialists to integrate financial literacy concepts into cross-curricular projects.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with teaching in a classroom setting (preferably middle or high school)
  • Preferred experience in finance, economics, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of educational pedagogies related to financial literacy.
  • Strong organizational, time management and communication skills.
  • Personal Budgeting skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable with technology (Mac environment)

OTHER

  • Must submit to fingerprinting and background check
  • Supervision, as assigned.
  • Active participation in scheduled meetings, professional development, and training.

WORK SCHEDULE: School hours are M-F 7:30am-3:30pm. A few weekend and evening hours for special school events such as Open House, Back to School Night, and Annual Lūʻau.
