- Manager Sanitation License
- A minimum of two years of food production experience
- Basic working knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment
- Demonstrated success in selecting and supervising staff in a kitchen setting
- Demonstrated commitment to understand and follow instructions
- Demonstrated ability to read and perform basic counting duties
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Ability to remain in standing position for the bulk of the workday
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently and accurately compile correspondence (Word) and Excel worksheet letters/reports
- Responsible for all food production and cooking activities necessary to run a kitchen smoothly
- Oversee and participate in the preparation of food items for schools and catering throughout the district and in accordance with recipes and Illinois State Board of Education standards for public-school entities
- Maintain a neat, clean, and safe work environment
- Perform food preparation and production tasks efficiently and accurately under the direction of the Area Supervisor
- Keep records on meal counts and daily production information related to all food prepared with his/her kitchen
- Consistently follow safe food handling policies and procedures, recipes, plating instructions, etc.
- Oversee ordering of food, inventory, and stock rotation processes
- Demonstrate a conscientious attitude in daily operations through the management of food inventory and the reduction of waste
- Responsible for directing, training, and monitoring the performance of Food Service workers assigned to duties in the kitchen
- Prepare food according to dietary needs of students; follow recipes and food production sheets
- Ensure the use of portion control standards when preparing food
- Ensure that the appearance of all food items are per standards
- Ensure that production/tally sheets are completed accurately and are without shortages
- Monitor and ensure the temperature of food items are per standards
- Promptly report malfunctioning equipment or food shortages to supervisor
- Utilize leftovers effectively by creating special and marketable entrees
- Maintain proper hygiene to ensure a sanitary work environment
- Complete all tasks and related duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee
- Assist the Director of Food Service with staff evaluations
- Maintain standards specified in Professional Performance Expectations for District 118 Employees
- Start time: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM daily with occasional work responsibilities outside the schedule
