David Evans Associates is Hiring a Junior Public Involvement Coordinator -Portland Near Portland, OR

ResponsibilitiesDEA’s Portland, OR office is hiring a Public Involvement Coordinator to work with our transportation and planning teams on projects in the Pacific Northwest. The successful applicant will be joining a growing public engagement practice with opportunity for continued professional development and upward mobility. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Support day-to-day operations for assigned public involvement projects.
  • Support the development of effective public outreach strategies for high profile transportation and planning projects.
  • Create, edit, and produce public involvement materials such as flyers, fact sheets, presentations and surveys, both printed and online, and coordinate distribution among project team members, stakeholders, and client as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute content on social media applications.
  • Track and respond to public inquiries and comments.
  • Organize and staff events including open houses, workshops, public hearings, neighborhood meetings, ground breakings, ribbon cuttings, workshops, one-on-one meetings and other public events.
  • Interact with the public utilizing a wide range of traditional and innovative communication methods.
  • Act as a liaison between technical project team members and the public.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by DEA and our clients.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or similar field, and 3-5 years of experience in similar field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Good writing and public speaking skills
  • Good organizational skills

This position would also work with planners in transportation, urban design, landscape architecture, water and energy.
