Summary:
Directs and oversees an organization's material management policies, objectives, and initiatives, Responsible for production control, cycle counting, shipping, receiving, and inventory levels. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Job Functions:
Material Planning will support the continued development, deployment, and execution of the company’s Lean Production System
This role will develop and drive the implementation of the lean road map for materials planning to support the reduction of lead time, reduction of inventory dollars, warehousing of inventory, and increase throughput.
The position will collaborate with the operations team at the sites to drive the implementation of Pull & Flow using LEAN principles
Define and create PFEP practices across all sites
Design MRP order controls and base configuration to support enterprise-wide ERP improvement
Assess overall materials performance, diagnose bottlenecks, and implement solutions to enable continuous flow
Analyze industry standards with regards to Materials planning and flow management to make appropriate changes to improve operations
Collaborate with and coach Materials professionals; evolve & adapt organizational structures as needed to maintain cadence with the business
Interview and hire staff, and oversee staff training
Manage Cycle Counting Program and/or physical inventory
Member of Syteline Projects Team
Assure material availability and inventory targets are achieved
Develop and implement strategies for the procurement of materials and supplies
Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock without overstocking
Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in material handling
Maintain accurate records of inventory
Lead and mentor Material Flow Supervisor and warehouse staff
Specifications Required:
Ability to demonstrate professional communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to adopt continuous improvement and maintain focus on the customer
Ability to analyze information, communicate effectively and evaluate results to choose the best solution
Knowledge of “Lean Material Flow” practices and ISO/TS requirements
Ability to establish priorities and multitask effectively
Ability to delegate with regard to responsibility, authority and accountability
The ability to maintain emotional balance and self-control to face various situations confidently and successfully
Ability to engage employees at all levels. Lead department to live the creed and be the best people they can be.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in field or similar area required
10 years of experience in field or similar field preferred
