Who We Are

District of Columbia International School (DCI) is a public charter school serving over 1600 racially and economically diverse students in grades 6-12 from across the District of Columbia. We aim to provide our students with a world-class education that empowers them to follow their passions and change the world. DCI’s education centers on an International Baccalaureate curriculum, advanced language learning in Chinese, Spanish, and French, and a culture focused on student agency supported by 1:1 technology.

DCI is hiring a full-time Internship

DC International School (DCI) is a public charter school serving more than 1,600 students in grades 6-12 in Washington, DC. Opened in 2014, the school’s mission is to foster inquiring, engaged, knowledgeable, and caring secondary students who are multilingual, culturally competent, and committed to proactively creating a socially just and sustainable world. DCI realizes its mission of creating global citizens through advanced language learning, student agency, and the International Baccalaureate curriculum. 

DCI International School is looking for graduate school interns to work with our operations, finance and data teams to provide substantive support on key organizational deliverables. Each intern will contribute to at least one, if not a portfolio of 2-3 projects during a 10 week summer internship at DCI. These internships would be focused on the following areas: 

Budget and Finance: Build tools and training to enable DCI to more strategically analyze its budget. This work would include the overall school budget, but also focus on specific programs that target at-risk students

• Ed Tech: Exploring how DCI manages the plethora of education technology solutions in its classroom with a particular focus on the evolving Artificial Intelligence landscape. 

Marketing and Communications: Research how DCI uses social media, our website, mass emailing and other strategies to connect with students and families. Develop content for our website, newsletters to connect with prospective families and the broader media landscape. 

The specifics of these projects will continue to evolve as we get closer to the summer and depending upon the specific areas of expertise of the interns. 

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a graduate program in education, public policy, business administration, communications, or data science.


• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and synthesize complex information.


• Proficiency with tools relevant to the internship area (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, data visualization platforms, web content management systems, or social media management tools).


• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.


• Ability to accept and implement feedback received for real-time improvement.


• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.


• Other duties as assigned.

Time Frame: 10 Weeks - June 2- August 5th - Approximately 

Location: Washington, DC - In-person

Salary: $20-$25 per hour
