We are a 102 year old global manufacturer of industrial electrodes used to support the electrochemistry needs in multiple industries, including chlor-alkali, metal plating - surface finishing, cathodic protection and water treatment.
This position is for 2nd shift at our Manufacturing plant located in Mentor, Ohio.
This person would be responsible for the administration of employee relations, plant technician recruitment/hiring, plant communications, policies and procedures, safety, compensation, headcount measures, recognition, and benefits. The position also administers and manages the HRIS for plant technicians. This person plays a major role in employee communicatins and meetings.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Responsible in the supporting the HR Manager with all Plant recruitment activities such as: Candidate interviews, walk-throughs, follow-up communication, and onboarding.
- Contribute to the success of the Plant Leadership team by promoting an atmosphere of trust, fairness, cooperation, and teamwork among peers and management.
- Familiarization and compliance to statutory employment laws such as: FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.
- Administer and monitor all aspects of the Plant Employee Handbook. Recommend and facilitate updates and revisions as needed. Ensure all Plant policies are administered consistently and fairly for employee work schedules, attendance (vacation, time off, etc.), pay rates (upgrades, overtime, etc.), FMLA, conduct, job postings and bids, TOWP, PTO, vacation, etc. Report deficiencies to the Plant Leadership, Area Managers, and HR Management immediately. Maintain confidentiality on all employee matters. Maintain the hourly employee personnel files.
- Support the administration of both Temporary and Contract employees. Contact various agencies as chosen by HR for assignment. Review summaries of hours worked and compare to agency invoices for payment approval. Facilitate temporary on-boarding process; evaluate to makes recommendations as needed.
- Enter new hire plant employee data in HRIS and SuccessFactors. Update and/or maintain plant employee information in systems as required.
- Support EH&S activities including Workers’ Compensation, participation in monthly Plant Safety Meetings, Personal Protective Equipment planning, and annual hearing test coordination.
- Participate in Wellness Committee as an ambassador.
- Provide Safety and Employee Orientation training to new Regular and Temporary employees.
- Assist in the coordination of Plant annual employee open enrollment meetings. Is a key contact for Plant communication to hourly employees.
- Recommend new approaches, policies & procedures to HR Manager for plant employees, leading to improved efficiency of HR Department.
- Support the collection and tracking of technician compensation information annually.
- Participate and assist in developing department goals, objectives, and systems for salary administration. Responsible for maintaining strong departmental relationships with HR Manager and Plant.
- Maintain daily manufacturing floor presence to better understand technician issues.
- Support/advise Plant Leadership regarding disciplinary issues or complaints. Counsel plant hourly employees on personal and disciplinary issues.
- Maintain a respectful, authentic demeanor when dealing with all DNT employees.
- Support the HR Manager’s administration of employee performance management system.
- Administer the Plant hourly bid and selection processes. Follow the process and maintain the information in the files. Administer all resulting salary changes. Report salary changes to Plant Management on a regular basis.
- Administer and ensure proper documentation regarding FMLA, Salary Continuation, and Long-Term Disability claims.
- Network with various HR Peer groups, maintains knowledge regarding important benchmarks in HR arena.
- Any other duties as assigned by HR Manager or Plant Management.
Education and Professional Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or Organizational Behavior; or equivelant work experience.
- 5 years’ experience in HR in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with HRIS and Applicant Tracking System a plus.

- Must be capable of reacting to the needs of people while maintaining a positive attitude when dealing with their requests; able to resolve conflicts and solve problems with minimal guidance.
- Good writing and communication skills are required, as well as attention to detail when administering Plant policies.
- Must be organized and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
