What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Project Manager position at DEC Fire & Water Restoration?
DEC Fire & Water Restoration is a local family-owned restoration company located in Birmingham, Alabama. We specialize in the clean-up and remodel of insurance related damages to residential and commercial structures. This can consist of anything from water damage due to a broken supply line, fire damage to a home, a vehicle driving through a building, lightening striking a residence, or anything in between. Our mitigation team is available 24/7 to service our customers, so we're always busy with new business.
PRIMARY DUTIES: Manage remodeling projects, coordinate outside subs or in-house crews and their material needs. Residential experience preferred. Must be able to get jobs started promptly, keep customers happy and secure a COS (Certificate of Satisfaction) at the end of the job. Your job bonus depends on the customer being satisfied with the work you managed.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Minimum of 3 years of superintendent experience working with subcontractors, electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and/or general handymen.
2. Residential construction experience - ideally remodeling and renovation work.
3. Candidates must be motivated and energetic with the ability to work unsupervised. Good work ethic, organizational skills, ability to multi-task and effectively handle heavy customer service responsibilities are a must.
4. Background check and drug test are required and willingness and ability to travel daily by car. Most travel will be during the work day and generally within a 50 mile radius of our office. No long distance traveling required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Good knowledge of residential construction - a remodeling and renovation background is ideal.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in the use of Xactimate estimating software will be a definite PLUS. Additional training will be provided if needed, but this is the software we use everyday. If you already know how to use it, that would help a lot.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent communication skills required. Ability to read and comprehend and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers, associates, vendors and contractors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. You may have to coordinate and deliver materials to a jobsite from time to time.
LICENSES: Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE: SALARY Bonus: Starting base salary, varies depending on previous experience. Also, bonuses paid on completed jobs; on time and in budget.
