Job Summary:
The purpose of this position is to assist the pharmacist in the operations of the pharmacy. It is important that the clerk be able to perform all tasks in the pharmacy that are not by law, hospital policy, or otherwise restricted to the registered pharmacist or licensed pharmacy technician.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support the mission and goals of Aspire – Rural Health System and contribute to the continuous improvement of hospital and health service operations.
- Assist patients in the pharmacy drive-thru and front interior of the store.
- Ring out patients using pharmacy registers. This includes making cash, credit, or check sales.
- Able to give correct change when making cash sales.
- Count down register when it is being closed for the day using provided forms.
- Help with stocking and processing the OTC replenishment order.
- Clean shelves in the OTC area. This includes straightening medications and dusting/cleaning shelves.
- Place orders to wholesale suppliers and other suppliers via internet, email, or phone call.
- Help in cleaning in the pharmacy. This includes sweeping the floor, trash collection, dusting the shelves, cleaning the windows.
- Participate in special projects as they occur.
- Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Previous pharmacy experience preferred but not required.
- Money handling/cash register usage
- Customer service focused.
- Able to handle the stress of a busy work environment
- Good communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
