Work Schedule: 8:00AM-4:00PM (35 Hours Per Week)
Status: Full-time
Pay Up To: $23.91
Location: DeKalb County Sunny Meadows; DeKalb County, Indiana
Job Summary: DeKalb County Sunny Meadows County Home is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to oversee financial and bookkeeping operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, assisting with department budgets, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial transactions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, adjustments, general ledger entries, and submit claims to Accounts Payable.
- Assist with department budgets by compiling data, typing forms, and completing reports.
- Ensure department vehicles are registered and insured, including applying for license plates.
- Process and post payments to proper accounts, prepare and make bank deposits, and review online bank accounts.
- Manage residents' Personal Needs Accounts (PNA).
- Prepare itemized reports of funds collected and file reports with the Auditor.
- Establish accounting policies and procedures.
- Maintain a complete filing system to support financial records.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or HSE.
- Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain Bookkeeper Certification.
- Ability to meet all County and Department hiring requirements, including criminal background and credit checks.
- Practical knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping standard practices and procedures.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet, and department-specific software systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to create and maintain accurate and organized files and records.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple tasks, and work under pressure.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform duties in a standard office environment, including sitting, standing, walking, lifting/carrying objects weighing under 50 pounds, pushing/pulling objects, keyboarding, driving, crouching/kneeling, bending/reaching, close/far vision, speaking clearly, and hearing sounds/communication.
