Plant Operations Tech II

The Plant Operations Technician ll will be responsible for assisting the Plant Ops staff with general duties onsite and at outlying clinics. Performs duties involved in repair or general maintenance work of facilities, building, grounds, and equipment at various off site locations including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, dry-walling, insulating, and framing walls and doors. Position will include up-keep of hospital grounds, disposal of trash, driving to make pick-ups and deliveries in the area. Often functions as a helper to more highly skilled trades.

Position Responsibilities:

• Required to pick up shredding once a week on campus and as needed for Clinics.
• Daily rounds on medical gas bottles, refill each department’s gas needs.
• Will train with staff to complete chemical testing on boilers.
• Observes and actively participates in the safety lockout procedure.
• Selects the most appropriate tool for the job and maintains all tools in proper and safe condition.
• Uses all tools properly and follows safety protocols, keeping the safety of others in mind at all times.
• On a monthly basis, needs to check fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, and area sweeps.
• Will provide corrective and preventative service on all equipment as assigned and insure that the equipment functions as designed.
• Assist the Plant Ops staff when additional help is needed. May be required to do more detailed maintenance with and without direct supervision such as carpentry and plumbing.
• Recognizes situations when more advanced technical assistance is needed and seeks this assistance.
• Monitors and assists in the installation of all equipment installed in this facility by others such as vendors and contractors.
• Prioritizes work orders, so that patient care needs are met first, followed by preventative maintenance, then routine or low priority work.
• Assemble items that come from Purchasing before delivering to other departments.
• Move boxes of records to storage.
• Cross-training in various areas of plant operation, repair and preventative maintenance.
• Will receive training in one or more trades and will be expected to help in that area when needed.
• Courier duties to Ace Hardware, Home Depot and occasionally to Grand Junction.
• Required to take call after an orientation period and may be called in after hours for emergencies or snow removal in the winter. Must live within 30 minutes of Delta Health after going on call.
• Within one year of employment, the employee will take the DOT Haz Mat training to satisfy DOT CFR 172.704, the certification must then be renewed every three years.
• Will be priority tech to perform maintenance at outside clinics as needed.

• Framing experience required.
• Painting experience preferred.
• Drywall experience preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a driver’s license and clear motor vehicle record.
• Must have own basic hand tools. Specialty tools will be provided by Delta Health.
• Ability to use efficiently various power and hand tools.
• Must have good customer service skills.
• Be able to follow oral or written instructions.
• Communicate efficiently and fluently in both written and oral form.
• Must possess basic typing and computer skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
• Must adapt readily to change; be flexible; ability to problem solve; must be able to work required schedule including call.
• Must live within 30 minutes of Delta Health after going on call.
