Under direction of The Public Information Unit Deputy Labor Commissioner III, the Outreach Analyst develops outreach materials and collaborates with enforcement programs to establish strategic goals for high-profile outreach campaigns for under-served and vulnerable worker populations, strategic industries and other industries where specific mandates exist. The Outreach Analyst acts as a subject matter expert within the Division to disseminate information to a broad audience, including underserved and vulnerable worker populations, worker and employer community-based organizations, and other key stakeholders throughout California. The incumbent works closely with program subject matter experts to develop and implement a plan to meet business needs in providing public information and initiatives to align with the Division's vision, goals, and objectives.

The incumbent must work in a professional and trauma informed manner and establish cooperative working relationships with others. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff at all levels both within and outside of DIR to complete work assignments. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to use the Internet, email, desktop applications and presentation software to complete assignments.

Working Conditions

This position is located in Salinas, CA

Duties are partially performed in a climate-controlled office setting possibly in a high-rise building; cubicle or shared workspace under artificial light, utilizing computer screens and other office equipment; may drive a state vehicle for field work, training and other related work. While in the field, exposure to dirt, odors, noise, fumes, uneven surfaces, stairs, high-rise buildings, extreme weather conditions, and fast-moving equipment may occur. The incumbent is required to work extensively on the computer as necessary for email communication, research, and other purposes.

Department Information

The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. Its mission is to improve working conditions for California's wage earners and to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.

Additional Special Requirement:

This bilingual position requires proficiency in written and spoken English and Spanish. Statewide travel is required for approximately 50% of the time needed to meet operational needs.
