2405 - 26713 Electrical Engineer
Global medical device manufacturer, DeRoyal, is seeking an innovative and motivated Electrical Engineer to join the Research and Development team. This role involves designing, developing, and testing electrical systems and components for advanced medical devices. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and third-party contractors to bring products from concept to commercialization, ensuring they meet all functional, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Development
Design electrical systems, components, and circuits for medical devices, ensuring functionality, safety, and compliance with relevant standards and product specifications.
Develop multi-layer printed circuit board designs (PCBs) from schematic design to layout and component placement using CAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer, SolidWorks Electrical).
Ensure interoperability between boards based on electrical system architecture.
Collaborate software / embedded systems designers to support connectivity and functionality:
Perform prototyping testing, simulations and circuit analyses to optimize performance.
Design and troubleshoot Arduino-based systems for prototyping and product features, work with embedded systems, sensors, and power management systems to enhance device efficiency.
Testing and Validation
Define and execute testing protocols for electrical systems.
Conduct system integration and validation testing for electrical components.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues during development and production phases.
Document testing results and track issues throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaboration and Support
Coordinate with third-party contractors for circuit board layouts, prototype builds, and other outsourced tasks.
Collaborate with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to integrate electrical components into cohesive systems.
Partner with regulatory teams to ensure designs meet standards such as IEC 60601, IEC 62304, FDA, and ISO 13485.
Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality assurance, marketing, and customer service.
Compliance and Documentation
Create and maintain detailed documentation for designs, test plans, and validation protocols.
Ensure adherence to industry regulations, including FDA, CE, IEC 62304, and ISO guidelines.
Continuous Improvement
Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate innovative solutions.
Participate in design reviews and contribute to iterative development processes.
Project Management
Contribute to project planning, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk assessment.
Ensure projects meet deadlines while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in the medical device industry (10 years of experience preferred).
Expertise in PCB design and layout, including high-speed signal routing and power distribution.
Hands-on experience with embedded systems and microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, PIC, Arduino).
Experience coordinating with third-party contractors.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in electrical design and simulation tools (e.g., Altium Designer, SPICE, MATLAB).
Strong understanding of power supplies, analog/digital circuits, and electromechanical systems.
Experience with Arduino systems for design and troubleshooting applications (preferred).
Soft Skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with medical device standards (e.g., IEC 60601, IEC 62304, ISO 13485, FDA regulations).

Experience with wireless technologies and sensors.
Knowledge of software development for medical devices (e.g., C/C , LabVIEW).
Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and testability (DFT).
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
Frequent standing, walking, and manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment.
Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Protective gear required in sterile environments.
Work may involve occasional exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, and electrical risks.
