What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Events position at Desert Publications Inc?
- Will be lead event planner incorporating event productions, event curation, organization, site management, and staff management.
- Must collaborate with internal and external event partners.
- Create budgets, manage budgets, oversee bill payments, and expense tracking — ensuring they’re accurate and received on time. Strong excels spreadsheet skills preferred.
- Manage talent and partner negotiation.
- Manage dedicated event site(s), and ticketing platforms.
- Source and manage vendors to obtain and negotiate quotes, oversee production and track deliveries.
- Ensure all production aspects are properly planned and supported, directly executing them — including run of show/programming, location scouting and management, layout planning, rentals, catering, staffing, AV, staging, stage management, print production, digital and social media production etc.
- Run internal and select partner meetings.
- Communicate effectively to drive progress, receive approvals, and satisfy project requirements.
- Prepare contracts, call sheets, schedules/run of shows and talent agreements and releases.
- Oversee volunteer management for events.
- On-set and on-location production lead; weekend/evening availability as needed.
- Manage project administration
- Manage Production Coordinators, PAs and any other event staffing as needed.
- Support business development initiatives and research.
- Some travel may be required (< 10%).

· Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Keen attention to detail is a must.
· Good organizational and coordinating abilities
· Must be proactive and show a great level of creativity in carrying out assigned duties
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments in the face of multiple duties
· Good time-management skills is a necessary requirement
· Must be able to work in a team environment
· He/she should have a solid background in event management
· Computer skills, including complete knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel, and Outlook.
· A minimum of 5-7 years relevant work experience in event and marketing production.
· Sponsorship sales/execution experiences a plus.
