This position is classified as salaried, exempt. The hiring salary range for this role is anticipated to be $95,000 - $105,000 dependent upon experience and qualifications.
The Senior Project Engineer (SPE) will work directly with a Project Manager to aid in managing the structural design process from project inception through construction. Responsibilities will include completing structural analysis, preparing plans and specifications, reviewing contractor submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs. The Senior Project Engineer will coordinate the structural engineering design with the client, project architects, municipal agencies and other design team members as well as oversee production work of junior engineers and CAD technicians.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs, formulates plans and supervises production work of junior engineers
- Facilitates the required design and documentation of projects
- Assistance in cost and personnel estimating as well as proposal preparation
- Participates in project staffing discussions
- Ensures that each completed project meets local codes, regulations, and quality standards
- Delivers structurally sound designs capable of withstanding routine use, the elements, and inspection
- Sets design protocols according to relevant codes and standards
- Designs structural elements of each project using computer software like AutoCAD, Revit, or RISA.
- Experience in precast or tilt-up building design desired but not required.
- Reviews shop drawings and provide feedback to colleagues
- Ability to effectively identify project issues and to solve problems with the aid of established internal guidelines and approved design programs
- Thoroughly and efficiently organizes material for review by Supervisor
- Performs accurate checking of project documentation
- Writes clear summaries and memos of own work
Required Skills
- Extensive knowledge of local and national building codes and design practices
- Knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues
- Detail oriented with strong interpersonal, problem solving and team skills
- Deep knowledge of construction materials and methodologies
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field
- 7 years of relevant experience in structural analysis and design of mid to high-rise buildings, including project management
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a consulting office performing and supervising the design and analysis of building additions, large & small retail buildings, low rise multi-story offices buildings, as well as large manufacturing, datacenter, distribution and industrial facilities.
- Minimum 3 years of experience utilizing software packages such as ETABS, RAM, RISA, and SAFE.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to work in AutoCAD & Revit.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Civil, Structural Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer’s (PE) license

For this particular position, we expect to hire near the middle of the range. To be considered for this role, we are looking for candidates with at least 7 years of experience in the industry, and must have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, a Master's degree is a plus.
