What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Lifestyle position at Dial Senior Living?
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of strategies and programs for residents that enhances all areas of lifestyle and continually improves engagement among our team members and residents.
- Work with VP, Resident Services to develop and implement strategies to provide new innovative and engaging programs for all DSL residents.
- Collaborate with the Health Services Department to promote, maintain, train and review Live More care program. Responsible for providing and organizing activity/ programming support and resources.
- Support community Lifestyle Directors by developing, implementing and coordinating training opportunities, Lifestyle meetings (virtual and in-person) and programming resources with the goal of providing the highest level of opportunities for resident engagement.
- Visit communities regularly, interacting with residents and team members at all levels to model and promote the DSL culture of infusing happiness while learning the community, resident suggestions, challenges, concerns and successes within the Lifestyle Department.
- Serve as a champion of the Dial culture, helping residents understand and live our core values through effective programs and initiatives that promote the DSL mission, vision and values, team member morale and resident overall well-being and happiness while supporting company initiatives and achieving our company goals.
- Encourage and facilitate Lifestyle Director communications from community to community to share activity and programming ideas, successes, and challenges between peers.
- Support social media efforts in conjunction with People & Culture and Marketing by assisting communities with engaging social media posts, coaching as needed for content, photos, frequency, etc.
- Assist communities in providing hospitality in a fun, welcoming environment for all events by developing resources including ideas and planning guidelines for community special events, new resident welcome programs, and guest and visitor hospitality expectations.
- Monitor community newsletters and coach as needed to ensure all newsletters are high quality and fully reflect the DSL MVV and culture.
- Monitor community monthly calendars to ensure that all programming SOPs are followed and iHappiness benchmarks are met.
- Promote and coordinate LifeLoop in all communities, including monitoring and working with communities to ensure all are using to the fullest potential for the highest level resident and family engagement.
- Oversee DSL volunteer program to ensure all volunteers are welcomed by experiencing the DSL culture and MVV, receive training and are recognized and celebrated for their contribution to our residents and communities.
- Serve as liaison for Dial 4 Seniors and drive community efforts to establish fundraising activities that benefit this organization.
Education, Experience and Other Requirements
- 5 years experience working directly with seniors in all areas of senior housing including assisted living, independent living and dementia care.
- 5 years experience serving in a Lifestyle or Activity Director role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong influencing skills.
- Superb interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with senior leaders, managers, and peers.
- Ability to establish open, respectful, and candid relationships and exhibit a high degree of professional ethics.
- Ability to manage difficult and complex situations or people with discretion and confidentiality.
- Intermediate or advanced knowledge of computer programs used at DSL.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to travel, including overnight travel

- Experience working with residents in memory care
