St. Catherine of Siena in Duncansville, under the Diocese of Altoona Johnstown has a part-time Music Director job opening.
Reporting directly to the Parish Pastor, the music director provides support to include the following:
Responsibilities
- Providing liturgical music for masses; including masses in which the choir participates
- Recruiting for, establishing and maintaining a music ministry of choir, instrumentalists and others under the direction of the parish pastor
- Developing mass music plans for weekend, holy day masses, and other parish liturgical celebrations
- Conducting rehearsals with choir, instrumentalists, and others as needed
- Participating in staff and applicably associated meetings
- Making recommendations for music resources used by the parish
- Seeking copyright permissions, as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required:
- Actively practicing the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church
- Able to satisfactorily complete background checks and training applicable to diocesan requirements
- Working knowledge of musical equipment and singing with a choir
- The ability to read and arrange music
- Working knowledge of applicable software programs
- High level of liturgical understanding
- Professional communication skills
- Ability to work as a team with volunteers, musicians, and children involved in the music ministry of the parish
- Able to professionally communicate on all levels and in various formats while displaying compassion, understanding, and confidentiality
