Diocese of Rockville Centre - St. Pius X Residence is Hiring a Full Time – Housekeeper/Porter Near Amityville, NY
St. Pius X Residence for Retired Priests located in Lake Ronkonkoma is seeking a full-time Housekeeper/Porter. This full-time position is 37.5 Hours per week: varied shifts and available as emergencies occur. This individual is responsible for keeping the community clean and safe for the retired priests, staff, and visitors. Responsible for cleaning common areas and will be assigned to clean priest units.
- Clean units as assigned.
- Responsible for cleaning personal laundry, as well as bed linens and towels.
- Cleans bathrooms completely, including toilet bowl, sinks, bathtubs/showers; clean countertops and mirrors; and sterilizes floor, etc.
- Clean Kitchenette area, including but not limited to: counters, under counters, and mops Kitchen floor. Check refrigerators on a regular basis to ensure they are clean and free of ice build-up.
- Dusts all surfaces while at the same time being careful with Retired Priests’ belongings.
- Vacuum all exposed areas.
- Wash inside of windows, when necessary.
- Clean all common areas, including but not limited to: halls, landings, stairs, activity areas, lobbies, and elevator.
- Ensure cleanliness of public restrooms.
- Maintain housekeeping and laundry cart at all times.
- Wash, and dry all Community laundry, using appropriate products.
- Follows emergency procedures when chemicals are accidently misused.
- Understands the practices surrounding proper handling of biohazardous waste.
- Maintains a clean laundry room and stores chemicals in accordance with proper procedures.
- Communicates effectively with Director of Housekeeping as well as staff.
Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification:
High School Diploma
Housekeeping experience required.
Physical Requirements:
Physically able to bend, reach and work in small areas.
Physically able to push and pull equipment.
Physically able to stand for extended periods of time.
Miscellaneous:
May be required to work weekends and holidays as assigned
