The Disability Network of Mid-Michigan (DN/MM), a non-profit organization advocating for people with disabilities, is hiring individuals to work as an Independent Support Assistant. This role will assist people with disabilities to live independently in the community and achieve greater independence.
The primary job function of this individual will be to work one-on-one with people with disabilities in their own homes and the community.
Staff will assist with skill-building, mentoring, coaching, and personal care in areas of: shopping, errands, meal preparation, cooking, budgeting, handling money, medication reminders, eating, bathing, maintaining household cleanliness, making and attending appointments, accessing community, etc.
The ideal candidate will be self-directed, organized, and experienced in issues relating to disabilities. Other qualifications include incident free background check and driving record. Must have a valid driver’s license, current proof of vehicle insurance, and be willing to transport people into the community with your own vehicle.
Details of the position:
∙ Midnight shifts
Starting rate of pay is $15.53 an hour. This includes $4.35 an hour DCW stipend.
· Mileage reimbursed
· Insurance available for FT/PT employees, health, vision and dental
