Hillcrest Hospital Cushing is a 99-bed community-owned facility offering a variety of services for patients of all ages in the Cushing, Oklahoma area. The hospital offers 24-hour emergency services, cardiology, general surgery, orthopedics, diagnostic imaging, withdrawal stabilization, wound care and urology.
Responsibilities
This position is accountable for operating the ultrasound scanners, transportation of patients to and from the department, handling telephone calls for scheduling patients, answering questions, and calling reports of exams.
Must be able to handle patient support equipment, i.e. I.V. pumps and pulse oximeters.
The incumbent helps clean rooms and equipment and order supplies, assist physicians with invasive procedures and administer basic C.P.R.
The incumbent helps the supervisor in the daily operation of the ultrasound department. Must be registered or registry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
If registry eligible when hired, the technologist must become registered within one year of hire and must maintain registry during employment.
The incumbent must be able to demonstrate proficiency in operating the PACS computer system.
The incumbent must be able to maintain a high standard of imaging.
A thorough knowledge of ultrasound physics, anatomy and positioning are essential for a quality exam.
Must be able to handle multiple demands simultaneously and keep a helpful attitude towards patients, their families, office personnel, physicians, and associates. Must be able to coordinate patient prepping and scanning to maximize smooth patient flow.
Must be able to help move patients when needed. Will participate in performance improvement initiatives.
Will assist with other activities as deemed necessary for the day to day operation of the department.
The incumbent must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his or her assigned area.
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and provide the care needed as described in the department's competency plan.
Must be available for 24-hour call back with a 60 minute response time.
Must show competencies to discharge out-patients post procedure by assessing physical well-being and identifying emergency situations.
