QUALIFICATIONS: Certificate, license or other legal credential preferred; such qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.  Degree(s) preferred in the area of major study; twenty-one (21) years of age or a junior in college with an Education Major

 

TRAINING REQUIRED: Bloodborne Pathogens training; attend district substitute training; complete proper paperwork for employment

 

REPORTS TO: Site Principal/Assistant Principal/Supervisor/Executive Director of Human Resources

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Uses basic communication skills (oral, written, or business) to exchange information, give and receive simple instructions, and respond to inquiries.  Includes filling out forms, instructions, and writing and printing legibly.  Has knowledge of grammatical structure, vocabulary for preparing correspondence from rough draft, or proofing of completed material.  Communicates in clear, grammatically correct English. 
  2. Performs skilled, professional-level tasks under limited supervision, uses proper teaching techniques to provide students the environment for learning.  Implements lesson plans and accomplishes curriculum objectives.
  3. Cares for and effectively assists all students, including students with special needs. Implements guidelines/syllabus with effective instructional/teaching objectives. Encourages effective learning with proper teaching techniques. Ensures students are acquiring skills and knowledge to apply principles, theories, and other learning. Properly monitors student progress (grading, feedback, etc.).  Provides environment to encourage independent thinking challenges for more motivated students.  Maintains proper classroom discipline.
  4. Contributes to effectiveness/quality of district programs including extracurricular programs.  Keeps accurate records, reports, etc., pursuant to district policy.
  5. Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.  This also includes assigning homework, grading material, etc., if necessary.
  6. Consults as appropriate with the building principal, department head, or team leader before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the teacher's lesson plans.
  7. Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch, recess periods, and/or other duty times assigned. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  8. Follows Board policies, school rules, and school procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
  9. Other than those physical/mental requirements included within the essential functions: Communicates effectively 
  10. Performs duties related to playground, lunch, bus and other as appropriate
  11. Handles all school materials and equipment correctly and safely. Manages special needs children effectively and safely.
  12. Maintains confidentiality. 
  13. Maintains appropriate emotional control, physical health and personal appearance. 
  14. Punctual—following reporting and dismissal times.  

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

On an as-needed basis.  Compensation is based on Board approved salary schedule.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

Ability to stand, walk, squat frequently. 

Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently. 

Ability to do outside duties in inclement weather.

Ability to walk or move long distances from location to location around the building multiple times each day.
