Produce Manager

REPORTS TO: Store Manager and Produce Market Manager
LOCATION: All Locations
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
- Greets each customer and provides courteous service.
- Strives daily to exceed customer’s expectations by providing a positive first impression, determining actual needs, delivering real solutions, adding value where possible, and leaving the customer with a lasting positive impression, by providing superior customer service.
- Provides services to customers by always determining their needs, and continually increasing their own knowledge.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
- Greets each customer in and ongoing effort to elevate overall customer satisfaction level and deliver superior customer service.
- Maximize sales and profit in the produce department.
- Server customers at counter by filling requests and packaging products for sale.
- Receive special orders in person and over the phone, communicating availability and expected time from customer.
- Prepare/organize the cooler/freezer for receipt of merchandise, inspect the delivery for shortages/damage and sort cases for stocking.
- Assure the safety of self, customers and co-workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules and notifying supervisor of any potential hard immediately. Pick up/remove all broken containers, packing materials/boxes from sales floor or customers pathway immediately.
- Operation and safe handling of box knives, knives, wrapper, and printer to prepare products for sale.
- Replenish supplies on sales floor and in display cases. Prepares, packages and labels all products for sale.
- Rotate product throughout sales floor, in cases, and freezer according to code dates to ensure optimum freshness and control shrinkage.
- Count and record individual items of merchandise for inventory.
- File all invoices with scan coordinator after recording on the purchase log, and records shrink on daily/weekly basis as directed by Meat Market Manager.
- Orientate and train new employees, and retrain existing employees on work methods.
- Develop a weekly display plan for case merchandising and AD promotions allocating case space according to movement capacity and profitability.
- Check case and cooler temperatures hourly.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by Store Manager and/or Meat Market Manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Basic mathematical ability (add, subtract, multiple, divide) and ability to count.
- Must possess valid/current city/country food handlers permit (health card).
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be 18 years of age to operate pallet jack, fork lift and baler
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
No previous work experience required.
