Job description
The Bartender will be responsible to prepare and serve drinks to customers, able to mix and match ingredients in order to create classic and innovative drinks in accordance with customers needs and expectations.
The purpose of this position is to interact with the hotel & restaurant guests and ensure they have a great experience at our upscale 390 Prime Steak & Seafood Restaurant in the newly renovated & just opened Doubletree by Hilton Monroe Township Cranbury hotel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interact with guests-customers, take orders for drinks and food off the bar menu.
- Present bar menu to guests-customers at the bar.
- Serve selected snacks, ordered food and drinks to the guest-customer.
- Check identification of the guest-customer to make sure proper legal age requirements for purchase of alcohol products.
- Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails and other drinks as ordered and in compliance with hotel-restaurant standard drink recipes.
- Provide creative drink recipes for training others and for sale to guests-customers.
- Service Food, Liquor, Wine and Beer to guests -customers.
- Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays.
- Assess guests-customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations accordingly.
- Ability to Sell or influence others for up-selling and suggestive selling.
- Serve customers in a friendly upscale and helpful manner.
- Keep the bar counter and work area neat and clean at all times.
- Determine when a customer has had too much alcohol and if required refusing any further serving in an upscale- polite professional manner.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of food and beverage products, menus, and promotions within the restaurant and hotel.
- Handle and move objects, such as glasses and bottles, using hands and arms.
- Clean up after customers and clean the work area.
- Maintain a clean working area by sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning of glass doors, etc.
- Perform physical activities such as lifting and stooping.
- Maintain liquor inventory and consumption.
- Collect payment for drinks served and balance all receipts.
- Handle an assigned house bank and follow all cash handling procedures as per hotel standard.
- Prepare inventory or purchase requisitions as needed to replenish supplies.
- Ensure that the assigned bar area is fully equipped with tools and products needed for mixing beverages and serving guests.
- Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience per Hilton brand standards.
- Ensure training of other bartenders in proper bar-inventory set-up, bar menu, and drink recipes in association with the F&B Director and the Restaurant Manager.
- Comply with all food and beverage regulations by local & State authority
- Perform Other duties as and when assigned by the restaurant and/or hotel management.
- Good personality and positive interpersonal skills required.
Experience:
Previous bartending experience, 1 year minimum required. Experience in an Up-Scale restaurant or an upscale hotel preferred. Hilton experienced a plus. Experience in handling point of sale (POS) terminals and stock & inventory management software.
