Network Administrator
Network Administrator: primary responsibility is for the effective installation /configuration, operations and maintenance of network hardware, software, and related infrastructure. The individual will participate in tech research in development of innovation within the organization's infrastructure. The Network Administrator will ensure that all systems within his/her responsibilities adhere to organizational values and requirements for successful operation and make recommendations as required.
The individual will assist project teams with tech issues in both the initiation and planning phases while adhering to the project management methodologies utilized within the organization. The Network Administrator will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and supervising usage of the company's local area network in addition to monitoring LAN performance and security; ensuring that security procedures are implemented and enforced, along with other LAN policies and procedures. The individual will provide technical maintenance and recovery support to the organization's local and wide area networks and will use a variety of testing tools and techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems associated with the system's hardware and software.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate or bachelor's Degree in related field and 2-4 years' experience in technical support and system administration activities, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experienced in troubleshooting technical hardware and software issues in a timely manner.
- Good understanding of computer networks and proficient in providing PC support.
- Good working knowledge of Windows, Outlook, Exchange, Excel, and data warehousing.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of technical solution skill, analysis, infrastructure design, and user relations, and the ability to effectively analyze data and make recommendations based on research.
- Thorough understanding of Storage Area Network technologies including replication, backup technologies, and data networking.
- Extensive knowledge of voice and data communications techniques and technologies including cellular technologies.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and organizational skills.
- Ability to occasionally work extended, evening and/or weekend hours and be available for on-call support on a rotating basis.
- Support of our Microsoft computer environment, on premise and cloud based.
- Involvement with our VMWare environment and the operations of the virtual environment.
- Operations of various system and user monitoring platforms.
- Be able to work independently with internal and external customers and vendors.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain deliverable timelines
NATURE & SCOPE:The Network Administrator reports to the Information Technology Manager. This position will provide significant individual and collaborative contribution to the IT growth and development of the business as an integral contributor to the technical maintenance of the IT infrastructure, including routers, switches, server connectivity and the implementation of IT solutions as requested by management.
Examples of important individual skill sets required to be successful in this position include, but are not limited to, building strong relationships and business partnerships with internal customers (customer service orientation); ability to understand the viewpoints and user needs of everyone concerned before making a decision; knowing the technical skill sets and IT knowledge level of internal customers in the organization; and the ability to communicate in non-technical terms to non-technical individuals.
